Motorized
Typically resembling a bus, Class As are entirely constructed on a specially designed motorhome chassis. Powered by gas or diesel engines, these units may have multiple slide-out sections that open up the living space. Options are unlimited for Class As, but generally they have kitchens, bathrooms, entertainment centers and centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.

These units are an engineering marvel. They have kitchens, bathrooms with showers and sleep up to four people and all this is contained in a slightly stretched full-size van with the addition of a raised roof. Class Bs are easy to drive, fit in a normal parking space, are easy on fuel, and are often used as a second vehicle.

The Class C motorhome has a distinctive cab-over bunk that makes this RV easy to recognize. Built on a commercial cut-away van chassis Class Cs have evolved tremendously over the years. With all the amenities of any motorhome, they are available in various lengths, many with slide-out rooms and packed with extras.

Towed by pick-up trucks with a special "Fifth Wheel" hitches, they generally have taller ceilings and more slide-out rooms with as many as four in some models. They are the most spacious RVs available, but don't let the size intimidate you, they are delightfully easy to handle.

SURV stands for Sport-Utility RV, aka Toy Haulers. This is the new craze in RVing because it allows you and your "toys" to travel to your favorite off-road destinations without leaving behind the comforts of home. Beds, dinettes and couches are typically designed to fold up against interior walls to maximize rear cargo space. But what distinguishes an SURV from other trailers or towable RVs is a swing-down ramp and enough cargo space for a variety of off-road vehicles such as ATVs, dirt bikes, jet skis, canoes, snowmobiles or motorcycles.

Known as Pop-ups and Tent-Campers by many, this versatile hard-working trailer has been a feature of many a family's history. Often bought as a first trailer, the Fold-down is responsible for introducing more people to RVing than any other type of RV. These lightweight units can be towed by virtually any car.
